I really am beginning to hate my laptop. Not that there's really anything wrong with the laptop. It behaves reasonably well, usually does what I want it to do, that sort of thing. No, it's the necessity of using it that is making me hate it, when I'd rather be doing other things.
Which is not to say that I don't appreciate the things I can do on it. Surfing the net, posting things to Facebook, answering email, following the online groups to which I belong, and listing items on Etsy.
I think what I actually am hating is the NECESSITY of using my laptop daily. I'm hating the NEED to check email and Facebook. Things that years ago, I got along perfectly fine without.
Perhaps I'm just grumpy. I feel as if I'm developing a cold and so I'm bad-tempered about everything.
I think it's more that I've become sick of Etsy. Sick of adding things to the shop. Sick of the not-so-easy interface that Etsy has for listing items--buying is really easy (too easy actually). It's a grind, it's not fun. One thing I've discovered that is an additional time waster is the Teams concept, where one joins Etsy teams related to one's items or location. I currently belong to 16 teams, only one of which I'm really solidly active in (called "Lost and Found," promoting art made with vintage and upcycled items). Several of the teams deal with Etsy business stuff, others are location-oriented (4 for Rhode Island and New England sellers, 1 of which I've founded myself).
Teams are useful in that the idea is that you can promote yourself, promote other team members, and theoretically they promote you. I'm not sure how much I'm being promoted in exchange for the time I'm spending promoting others, but I suppose I need to put in the effort. You know, one hand washes the other....
Anyway, I'm grumpy about the whole thing. I listed 3 original items, plus reprints of those original items and it took me about 90 minutes. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, maybe there's a multi-lister like on Ebay that I don't know about.
Whatever.
Hopefully somebody will visit the shop and buy stuff. Hint, hint--rhodyart.etsy.com. LOL
Incidentally, I want to do something here that I saw on FB where you post as your status update a desire to give away something to the first five people who comment on the update. So, if you are a reader of this blog and want a free goody from yours truly, comment on this post and leave an email address. I'll pick five lucky people and they will get a cool hand made collage magnet. But--and of course this is on the honor system--in exchange for the freebie I want you to do something nice for someone else.
Easy, right?
Hope to hear from you

Hi Lin,
I understand how exhausting Etsy can get esp when sales are slow!
Love that you are giving away a freebie - that is sweet. See ya in LAF

Hello Lin,
I have read bits of your blog and think your humor is awesome.
Keep on bloggin'
Aloha (-.-)
I think you got that post idea from me. So far I bought a pizza slice for a homeless guy and a hotchocolate for a little girl. I love this idea of paying it forward! By the way my laptop is making all sorts of scary noises right now! Take care of yourself. Carol Traxler ctraxler@live.com
